Elements Salon in Avon Lake, Ohio, has been named as a Salon of Distinction in the nationally acclaimed “Salons of the Year” interior design competition sponsored by SALON TODAY, the leading business publication for the professional salon industry.

The salon and spa, owned by Mary and Aaron Velez, distinguished itself among approximately 100 qualified entries and is featured in the June 2011 issue of SALON TODAY magazine.

Salons were judged in six design categories: Use of Color, Lighting, Flooring, Efficient Use of Space, Consistency of Design and Overall Aesthetics. This year’s panel of judges included Richard Cronk and Dominick Sansevero owners of Bangz Salon & Wellness Spa, in Montclair, New Jersey, and last year’s grand-prize winner; Debra Locker, founder of Locker Public Relations; Mindy Terry founder and president of the Creative Spa Concepts; Lisa Martin, founder of the spa consulting group Operation Spa; and Laurel Nelson, editor in chief of MODERN SALON Magazine.
